WEEKEND works differently: while you drive, the tent is in the boot and only the roof bars are on the roof. So your car needs to be approved for roof bars. When parked, the static roof load and the load rating of your roof bars apply. The static roof load is usually much higher than the dynamic one, because the roof also has to withstand a rollover. Rooftop tent on rental cars and car sharing

No car of your own? You can also use WEEKEND on a rental or car-sharing vehicle – provided the provider allows roof bars and the car has suitable roof bars or you're allowed to fit your own. Best to ask before you book.

Important

WEEKEND is set up on the ground and then lifted onto the car as a complete unit. It comes off again before every drive – never drive with the tent on the roof, neither set up nor packed.

A sleeping mat is not included. Bring one for each person in the tent.

To be honest: what you should know

The complete package including ladder weighs 18 kg (Comfort: 19.4 kg). If you live on the fourth floor without a lift, you'll notice that on the stairs. To set it up at your destination, you need a level area of about 220 × 130 cm next to the car. And the tent comes off the roof again before every drive – allow around five minutes to pack it down.
