Groenberg rooftop tents
Soft top roof tent for 2–3 people
A soft top roof tent, also called a fold-out roof tent, simply unfolds on your car roof: the flat package turns into a tent with plenty of room. Our Halvor 160 offers a 235 × 155 cm sleeping area for up to three people, a cotton-blend canvas and a removable rainfly.

The Halvor 160 on the road
The bed up top, your space for sitting, cooking and arriving down below. Here's the Halvor 160 at the pitch, on its own or with tarp and annex.
At the pitch
Sleep up top, sit outside below: there's room for a table and chairs next to the car.
Below the tent
With an annex or tarp, the space below the tent becomes a sheltered spot in sun and rain.
In the green
The Halvor travels folded and opens in a few minutes once you arrive.
Off the beaten track
On forest and meadow pitches you sleep above wet and uneven ground.
Soft top or hard top: which suits you?
Both designs have their strengths. It comes down to how you travel: plenty of room at one spot, or quick to open and close when you move on often.

Good to know before you buy
A roof tent for 3 people
At 155 cm wide, the Halvor sleeps two adults and a child or three people side by side. Tips for roof tent camping with kids are in our guide Rooftop tent for families.
How the fold-out tent works
Take off the cover, unfold the tent over the ladder, tension the door with the bow and prop up the windows with the poles. That turns 122 cm of length on the roof into 310 cm. It takes a few minutes and works on your own too.
More room on the ground
The Halvor Annex turns the space below the tent into an enclosed cabin; the size depends on your vehicle height. The Skyd Tarp adds 3 × 2.4 m of cover against sun and rain.
Before you buy: check the roof load
The Halvor 160 weighs 71 kg including the ladder. Add the weight of your roof bars. Together they must not exceed your car's dynamic roof load. You will find the value in your owner's manual, and many models in our roof load table.
Frequently asked questions about soft top roof tents
What is a soft top roof tent?
A soft top roof tent, also called a fold-out roof tent, is a fabric tent on a folding base. To open it, you unfold it, which makes the sleeping area roughly twice as long as the closed tent. A hard top, by contrast, has a rigid shell and opens upwards.
How many people does the Halvor 160 sleep?
The Halvor 160 is designed for 2–3 people. The sleeping area measures 235 × 155 cm and the interior load capacity is 300 kg.
What roof load does my car need for the Halvor?
The Halvor weighs 71 kg including the ladder. Tent and roof bars together must stay below your car's dynamic roof load. You will find the value in your owner's manual or in our roof load table.
How long does setup take?
A few minutes, even on your own: unfold the tent, tension the door with the bow and prop up the windows with the poles. Videos of setup and pack-down are on the product page.
Is the Halvor waterproof in the rain?
In the rain, the rainfly with a 3,000 mm hydrostatic head protects the tent. In good weather you can take it off and look at the sky through the roof window.
Is there an annex for the Halvor?
Yes, the Halvor Annex comes in sizes S, M and L. Which one fits depends on the height of your car including roof bars. It attaches via the keder rail and a zip, no tools needed.
